Funded by the Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association Foundation to honor their deceased colleague and benefactor who enabled establishment of the VDHA Foundation.

- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program in the United States.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum. Students may be in the process of completing their first year when the application is submitted.
- Applicants must be a professional member or student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).
- The scholarship supports a full-time student pursuing a baccalaureate or a part-time student pursing a graduate degree in Dental Hygiene or in accredited studies related to the professional roles of the Dental Hygienist
- Applicant must possess an active Dental Hygiene license
- Applicant must be a resident of Virginia
- Attending school in the state of Virginia is not an eligibility requirement
- Award Amount: $1,500
Wilma E. Motley Scholarship
- Dependent on funding.
- Established in honor of Wilma E. Motley.
- Applicants must possess a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program in the United States.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum. Students may be in the process of completing their first year when the application is submitted.
- Applicants must be a professional member or student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).
- Award Amount: $1,000.00
Dr. Esther Wilkins Scholarship
- Dependent on funding.
- Established by Dr. Esther Wilkins, this scholarship is awarded to applicant(s) pursuing additional degree(s) necessary for a career in dental hygiene education.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate degree program in dental hygiene or accredited degree studies related to the professional roles of the dental hygienist.
- Applicants must be a professional or student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).
- Application requires a separate essay.
- Award amount: $1,000.00
Sigma Phi Alpha Undergraduate Scholarship
- Dependent on funding.
- Awarded to an outstanding student pursuing a Baccalaureate degree at a school with an active chapter of the Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society who is a potential future Sigma Phi Alpha member or a current member in good standing.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum. Students may be in the process of completing their first year when the application is submitted.
- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program in the United States.
- Applicants must be a professional member or student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).

Scholarship for Academic Excellence
- Dependent on funding.
- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program in the United States.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum. Students may be in the process of completing their first year when the application is submitted.
- Two scholarships are reserved for students pursuing a Baccalaureate degree and three scholarships are designated for students pursuing a Certificate/Associate degree.
- Applicants must be a professional member or student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).

Crest Oral-B Laboratories Dental Hygiene Scholarships
- Dependent on funding.
- These scholarships are awarded to applicants at the Baccalaureate degree level who demonstrate an intent to encourage professional excellence and scholarship, promote quality research, and support dental hygiene through public education.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum. Students may be in the process of completing their first year when the application is submitted.
- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program in the United States
- Applicants must be a professional member or student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).
- Award amount: $1,000.00
Wilma Motley California Memorial Scholarship
- Dependent on funding.
- Applicants must demonstrate leadership experience in addition to meeting the minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- These scholarships are awarded solely on merit and do not have a financial needs requirement.
- Applicants must either be a resident of California or attend a dental hygiene program in California.
- Applicants may be pursuing the following education levels: Associate/Certificate; Baccalaureate; Baccalaureate Degree Completion; Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP); Master's or Doctorate.
- Applicants must be a professional or student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).
- Award amount: $2,000.00
Karla Girts Memorial Community Outreach Scholarship
- Dependent on funding.
- Established in memory of Karla Girts, BSDH, RDH, Past President of ADHA and former Chair of ADHA's Institute for Oral Health.
- Applicants will demonstrate a commitment to improving oral health within the geriatric population.
- Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants may be pursuing Associate/Certificate or Baccalaureate degrees.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum. Students may be in the process of completing their first year when the application is submitted.

Hu-Friedy/Esther Wilkins Instrument Scholarships
- Dependent on funding.
- This program awards recipients with the Hu-Friedy dental instruments of their choice, equivalent to a retail value of $1,000.00.
- Applicants may be pursuing Certificate/Associate or Baccalaureate degrees.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene curriculum. Students may be in the process of completing their first year when the application is submitted.
